Carbon footprinting: essentials
What and why now?
A Scope 1 & 2 carbon footprint maps emissions within your organizational boundaries. For SMEs, this is sufficient to subsequently have their targets validated by SBTi.
Larger companies must also report on Scope 3 emissions: the Scope 1 and 2 emissions of their suppliers. Sooner or later, they will also approach SMEs with questions about their carbon footprint.
After a half-day immersion, you'll have a grasp of the subject and know how to get started with Scope 1 & 2. You'll also receive an introduction to Scope 3 emissions.
The biggest advantages?
- You'll know where the most significant gains can be made to reduce your emissions.
- You'll protect the environment and save money in the long run.
- You'll answer customer questions correctly, earning their trust and capitalizing on commercial opportunities.
This will be covered:
- Standards for carbon footprinting
You'll learn the rules of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG): the best-known standard for calculating and managing greenhouse gas emissions. - From analysis to action plan
How do you get started with your carbon footprint analysis to set reduction targets and develop an action plan? And how do you use it to make an SME submission to SBTi? - Setting up data collection
What data do you need and where do you get it from? - Appropriate emission factors
What are the most suitable emission factors for different types of data points, and how do you use them to calculate your emissions? - Tools and templates
Cases from various sectors show how other companies have tackled the challenges. You will work with tools that you can immediately apply in your own organization.
