Carbon footprinting: advanced

You're already working with Scope 1 and 2, and may have even taken the first steps with Scope 3. But now it's getting serious: clients are asking for your full carbon footprint, a climate transition plan, and the product carbon footprint for every item in your range. And if you want your targets validated by SBTi, you'll also need to consider FLAG targets, depending on your sector. In an intensive one-day session, you'll elevate your carbon footprinting knowledge to an expert level. You'll learn how to calculate your Scope 3 according to SBTi rules, how to prepare an SBTi submission, and how to determine product carbon footprints. You'll delve deep into emission factors, get practical tips on data collection, and gain insight into common mistakes. If you've previously followed our Carbon Footprinting for Beginners course, you can seamlessly join this session.

What and why now?

Due to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, many large companies are required to publish a sustainability report. Even those who are not (or no longer) subject to the CSRD cannot escape client pressure to start with carbon footprinting.

Often, it doesn't stop at Scope 1 and 2. You also need to map out Scope 3, prepare an SBTi submission, formulate FLAG targets, or calculate product carbon footprints. This training helps you translate the GHG Protocol rules for Scope 1, 2, and 3 into practice.

Are land-related emissions important in your supply chain? Then our explanation of FLAG offers the final piece of the puzzle. Climate transition plans and product carbon footprints will also be covered.

The biggest benefits?

  • You'll answer complex client questions with expertise and gain their trust.
  • You'll know how to approach an SBTi submission without getting lost in the rules.
  • You'll avoid the classic pitfalls that others struggle with.

This will be covered:

  • Standards for carbon footprinting
You'll learn the rules of the GHG Protocol, the most widely used set of standards for carbon footprint reporting, and those of SBTi, the most current framework for ambitious climate targets.
  • From analysis to action plan and SBTi submission
How do you use your carbon footprint analysis to set reduction targets and develop an action plan? And how do you apply this within an SBTi submission?
  • Pragmatic data collection
How do you effectively collect the right data? And which emission factors best suit which type of data point? We refer to free and paid databases, both sector-wide and sector-specific.
  • Tools, cases, and databases
Case studies from various sectors show how other companies have tackled the same challenges. You'll work with tools that you can directly apply within your own organization.
